Albany Med Nurses

The transition from student to professional nurse can be intimidating and overwhelming. At Albany Med, we seek to make that shift as seamless as possible. That’s why we’ve developed a Nurse Residency Program for newly licensed nurses to gain the confidence they need for a successful career.

Our program is based on three main goals to help new nurses reach their full potential. If you’re recently licensed and are struggling to find your place in the workforce, keep reading to find out why you should consider joining our team at Albany Med.

  1. We teach more than just technical skills

We believe the strongest nurses are skilled in areas well beyond their technical proficiencies. In our Nurse Residency Program, we promote the use and knowledge of non-technical abilities such as communication, critical thinking, and advocacy.

  1. We explore best practices

At Albany Med, we strive to provide our patients with exceptional care. Sometimes, that means thinking outside of the box. Part of our program is based on cultivating clinical inquiry and judgment, prompting nurses to question practice and explore evidence-based practice to determine the best way to meet patient needs.

  1. We inspire our nurses to be their best

Last but not least, we continually inspire nurses to be confident in their role and do their best day in and day out. Our main priority is to instill confidence, care, and commitment to lifelong learning and excellence in our newly licensed nurses’.

How are our goals accomplished? That’s a great question.

Our program reunites newly licensed nurses at five, nine, and twelve months post-hire. We not only discuss unique, individual experiences - but we aid discussion surrounding the struggles, conflicts, and concerns faced by recently licensed nurses. Through facilitated group activities and collaborative dialogues, we provide a forum that unifies our new grads. We encourage them to share strategies and analyze case studies in a group setting to help one another with their professional development.

If you’re a newly graduated nurse looking to start your career off on the right foot, we encourage you to join our team at Albany Med.

We're having a New Graduate Nurses Hiring Event on Tuesday, November 5th. For more information and to RSVP for our event or request to be contacted if you cannot attend, visit:
